Athens, Greece, an illustration for Oryx Magazine featuring Romvis street, Pure Bliss cafe, Filema Tavern, Baba au Rum, Faust Theatre Bar, St. Irene’s Square, Throubi Bar and Kostas’ Souvlaki.
This is the last illustration I will have the pleasure of doing for Oryx Magazine. Like many periodicals, they are moving less in the direction of illustration and more towards photography. It was a great pleasure working with Steve Peaple, Lindy Polmeer, and Rachel Smith over the past three years (that’s a long haul guys, thanks!) and hopefully I will get the chance to work with them at Agencyfish in the future. Click on images to enlarge, a few close-ups are below.
The Acropolis, which I could not resist inserting!
Kostas’ Souvlaki is located a few streets away. Delicious souvlaki!
I’m sure I’ll have drawings of tasty turkey next week, but in the meantime–gourd! I love the twisty stems on mini-pumpkins. I love the voluptuous colors of pomegranates. Yellow flowers, eh, well, they’re ok I guess. 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving one and all, enjoy this time with your loved ones.
Grapes. Muscat grapes, to be precise. I love fall grapes. Get your Concords now! And your figs, because why not? Do you have a favorite flavorful fall fruit? Do let me know because I seem to have a special love for these flavor-packed post-summer gifts…
Via Margutta, Rome. The street on which Gregory Peck lived in Roman Holiday. A beautiful street as we watch summer ride off into the sunset on a vespa. Illustration for Oryx Magazine, many thanks to AD’s Steve Peaple and Lindy Polmeer who were very kind as I put this together in the midst of moving, computers breaking down, and scanners getting broken! Feel free to click on the image to enlarge.
For the April 2012 issue of Oryx, thank you to AD’s Steve Peaple and Lindy Polmeer. Featuring Borough Market, Monmouth Coffee, Tate Modern museum, Menier Chocolate Factory, the Thames river and the Southwark bridge, Anchor Bankside pub, The Globe Theatre and the Golden Hind. Munich illustration from August, 2012, issue of Oryx Magazine. Thank you to AD Steve Peaple and Lindy Polmeer.
Featuring Rotkreuzplatz, Sarcletti Ice Cream, Lieblingsladen, Olympic Park, Ruffini Cafe, Hans im Glück (hamburgers), Nymphenburg Canal, Nymphenburg Palace, and Zauberberg.
Caramelize (I spelled it wrong in the picture!) a halved Cipollini onion, flip it over, add some broth and some fresh thyme. When it’s nearly translucent top with some bleu until it’s melty. Delicious! Originally posted on Lucy Knisely’s Snacklove tumblr to herald her book Relish, which is out now–did you see her at MoCCA Artfest?
